How to Choose a Web Agency in Belgium: What Most Buyers Get Wrong
Alae Moumouh · 02 September 2025
The agency selection process is broken. Most buyers optimise for the wrong signals. Here is how to evaluate agencies on criteria that actually predict project success.
Most Belgian businesses choose a web agency based on three things: a portfolio they find attractive, a price that fits the budget, and a good feeling from the first call. Two of those three criteria are almost useless for predicting whether the project will succeed.
Attractive portfolios tell you the agency can produce good visual output. They tell you nothing about whether the sites convert, load fast, rank in search, or were delivered on time and on budget. When reviewing a portfolio, ask for load time data, post-launch conversion results, and the client's honest account of the process.
Price is a useful filter but a terrible primary criterion. A €1,500 website that cannot convert a visitor is more expensive than a €5,000 website that generates consistent inbound leads. Evaluate on expected ROI, not upfront cost.
What actually predicts success: communication style during the sales process, specificity of their discovery process, whether they ask about your business goals before proposing solutions, and the quality of their written deliverables. An agency that sends a vague quote after a 20-minute call is telling you exactly how they will manage your project.
Ask these questions before signing anything: What does your discovery process look like? Can you share the performance data from a recent project? Who will I be working with day-to-day? What happens if we need to change scope mid-project? How do you measure whether the project was successful?
The best agency relationships feel like partnerships, not vendor contracts. You should be choosing someone you can call when something breaks 18 months after launch — not someone who disappears after the final invoice. If you are evaluating Alphax, we encourage you to contact us and ask any of these questions directly before committing to anything.
